Children's Dentistry At Fairfax
Baby teeth begin to push out between the ages of 6-12 months of age. Each child is a little different, but normally their teeth begin coming out in the front of the mouth and work their way back. Most children will have a full set of baby teeth by their 3rd birthday.
Baby teeth are critical for your child’s health and development. These teeth help them to speak, smile, and most importantly to chew their food. They are also place holders in the mouth for permanent teeth to grow in. If they lose a tooth too early, the permanent tooth won’t be held in place and can drift away.
After their 1st tooth comes in, and no later than their 1st birthday, it’s time for your child’s very first dental visit. Apart from checking the health of your child’s gums and teeth, we will show you how to care for their teeth and how to handle habits like thumb sucking.
